Star-studded Roma next to land in Australia

Aussie Daniel De Silva meets his new AS Roma team-mates on Wednesday night as the Serie A powerhouse arrives in Melbourne for the International Champions Cup (ICC) ahead of a date with Real Madrid on Sunday.

The likes of Francesco Totti, Ashley Cole and Gervinho headline a full-strength Roma outfit for the ICC tournament, which also features Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Coach Rudi Garcia is bringing 32 players to Melbourne, with the likes of Italian international Daniele De Rossi, ex-Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita, Brazilian defender Maicon and Dutch playmaker Kevin Strootman also included.

It will be a huge occasion for 18-year-old De Silva to meet his new team-mates having officially made the switch to Rome from Hyundai A-League club Perth Glory for this season.

Roma kick off the ICCI in Australia on Saturday night with a clash against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid at the MCG.
