Arsenal will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time since September when they face Brighton on Tuesday.
Mikel Arteta found himself under pressure heading into his team’s Boxing Day clash with Chelsea, with Arsenal having failed to win any of their previous seven games in the Premier League. Defeat at the Emirates Stadium could have placed his job under threat, but Arsenal delivered one of their best performances of the season in a 3-1 victory. Brighton held West Ham to a 2-2 draw last time out, leaving them just two points clear of the bottom three. Graham Potter’s side are without a victory in six matches, while just one of their last 13 league games has ended in a victory. Albion have at least gone unbeaten for three matches on the bounce, but they desperately need to start winning if they are to avoid slipping into a relegation battle. With Fulham, Burnley and West Brom all showing signs of life, Brighton need to respond.
Arteta opted for a youthful line of three behind Alexandre Lacazette on Saturday, and Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli will all hope to keep their places in the starting XI here. Gabriel is in self-isolation and will not return until next weekend at the earliest, while Thomas Partey is also out. Brazilian duo David Luiz and Willian will need to be assessed following bouts of illness.
Brighton will be unable to call upon the services of Tariq Lamptey, who is currently nursing a thigh problem. An injury to the same muscle continues to keep Jose Izquierdo away from the pitch, while Florin Andone, Adam Lallana and Aaron Connolly will also play no part.
