Egyptian FA president fired over legal cases

CAIRO - The president of Egypt's football association Samir Zaher has been fired by the national sports council (NSC), state news agency MENA said on Monday.

The council's decision was made after an administrative court said Zaher had legal cases hanging over him which made him ineligible for the post.

Egypt won the African Nations Cup in 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010 under Zaher's presidency.
