Beckham reveals Premier League snub

Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham - linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in the past - has revealed that he turned down offers from the Premier League before choosing to return to AC Milan on loan.

Beckham was tipped to join Spurs or the Blues - now managed by ex-Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti - before deciding to return to Serie A after a successful spell with the Rossoneri last season.

“There were options there [in England]. There was a couple," he told Sky Sports News.

“But I always said that when I left Milan, if I had the chance to go back, I would go back there.

“If they wanted me, I would go back there. That was always my No.1 choice, if I had a choice.”

The former England skipper was omitted from the Three Lions' squad that faced Brazil last week after helping LA Galaxy reach the MLS final for the first time in their history.

Beckham, though, is looking forward to returning to Italy and the prospect of playing Champions League football again.

“I am honoured that they want me and I can’t wait to go back,” he said.
