Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Inter Milan full-back Maicon, with the Brazilian international also interesting Chelsea and Real Madrid. According to la Gazzetta dello Sport, City are prepared to offer Elano, who is thought to be desperate for a move to the San Siro this summer, as a further sweetener. City's offer comes after Inter chief Marco Branca returned from talks in London with Chelsea without receiving a bid for the Brazilian.
The Stamford Bridge side are unprepared to make a move until they have decided on Jose Bosingwa's future, with the Portuguese defender recently linked with a transfer to Bayern Munich. But with Real Madrid having already spent £140 million on Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo players this summer, the Nerazzuri are understandably holding out for a similarly inflated bid from Florentino Perez's club.
"The man who will decide is Inter president Massimo Moratti," said Maicon's agent, Antonio Caliendo.
"Moratti says there is a 50 percent chance of Maicon staying but modern football is not like it used to be.
"Things can change rapidly, everything can be bought and sold, books need to be balanced and so on.
"Maicon is the best right-back in the world. I would rule out that Manchester United are looking for him but I know that City made an approach."comments
