Belgium and Egypt will get their respective World Cup campaigns up and running on Monday, when the two teams face off in Seattle.

Rudi Garcia's Belgium side will be looking for a significant improvement on their 2022 World Cup showing, when they failed to get out of the group stage, while Egypt failed to qualify four years ago and know that this could be talisman Mohamed Salah's final World Cup.

This match kicks off at 8pm UK time at Seattle Stadium and will be broadcast live on BBC One in the UK, making it prime time viewing.

Live coverage will be available in the UK on BBC One and the iPlayer with Mark Chapman presenting alongside pundits Micah Richards, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud.

With former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Giroud having lifted the World Cup trophy in 2018 and being part of the France squad that reached the final four years later, he will be well placed to run the rule over this one.

Walcott played alongside Giroud at Arsenal and has also moved into punditry work since he hung up his boots in 2023, following a career which saw him earn 47 England caps.

The former Southampton youngster's international career began when he was called up by Sven-Goran Eriksson to the 2006 World Cup as a 17-year-old.

Walcott failed to make it onto the pitch in Germany and that would be the only World Cup he was selected for, after being omitted from Fabio Capello's 2010 squad, before injury ruled him out in 2014.

Micah Richards was a 13-time England international, but his only taste of an international tournament was the 2012 Olympics with the one-off Great Britain side.

The former Manchester City man called time on his playing career in 2019 and has since carved out a successful media career, regularly appearing on Sky Sports and as part of The Rest is Football podcast line-up.

Steve Bower will lead commentary duties at Lumen Field, which has been renamed the Seattle Stadium for this tournament.

As the home of NFL franchise the Seattle Seahawks, the stadium is one of the loudest and most atmospheric in the United States.

Bower is known for being one of the BBC's main voices on Match of the Day and will be a regular throughout the tournament.

Joe Mewis

For more than a decade, Joe Mewis has worked in football journalism as a reporter and editor. Mewis has had stints at Mirror Football and LeedsLive among others and worked at FourFourTwo throughout Euro 2024, reporting on the tournament. In addition to his journalist work, Mewis is also the author of four football history books that include times on Leeds United and the England national team. Now working as a digital marketing coordinator at Harrogate Town, too, Mewis counts some of his best career moments as being in the iconic Spygate press conference under Marcelo Bielsa and seeing his beloved Leeds lift the Championship trophy during lockdown.
