Soldado given the all-clear after lengthy injury lay-off

Villarreal striker Roberto Soldado has recovered from an injury that kept him out for over six months.

The former Tottenham forward tore the anterior cruciate ligament and the lateral meniscus in his right knee in a friendly against Deportivo La Coruna in August.

Soldado left Tottenham for Villarreal after a disappointing two-year spell in England and immediately formed a partnership with fellow striker Cedric Bakambu, the pair scoring 17 times between them last season.

The Spanish side host Roma on Thursday in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie.
