Burnley and Everton both suffered disappointing results last weekend and will be looking to make amends at Turf Moor.
Burnley belatedly picked up their first win of the campaign a fortnight ago, registering a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace to get up and running for 2020/21. A subsequent trip to the Etihad Stadium was never going to be easy, but a 5-0 defeat by Manchester City was more severe than Sean Dyche would have wanted. The long-serving Clarets coach will have had to pick his players up ahead of the visit of Everton, as Burnley look to climb out of the bottom three.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side may have only lost 1-0 to Leeds United last time out, but it was only the visitors’ profligacy that prevented a more emphatic away win at Goodison Park. Everton have gone off the boil after an excellent start to the season, and Ancelotti will hope to see Richarlison, James Rodriguez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin linking up like they did in the opening weeks.
Burnley will have to make do without midfield duo Jack Cork and Dale Stephens, but Nick Pope should be restored between the sticks after a bout of concussion. Robbie Brady has been nursing a thigh injury but could be included in the matchday squad, while Josh Brownhill and Phil Bardsley are also expected to feature.
Everton will hope to have Seamus Coleman back as soon as possible, but Saturday’s game will almost certainly come too soon for the Irishman. Lucas Digne is also out, and it will be interesting to see if Ancelotti returns to a back four after experimenting with a 3-4-3 formation of late.
