Quiz! Can you name the five most expensive players from the last 10 Premier League transfer windows?

Riyad Mahrez Manchester City

The priciest moves by window since January 2014 – featuring both mammoth buys and curiously quiet winters

We are part of The Trust Project What is it?

It’s been one of those January transfer windows so far. Although Chelsea have done their bit by wrapping up a deal for Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic and Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, the Blues are one of only six Premier League clubs to have done any serious business.

Indeed, if we ignore that Pulisic deal for a second – which won’t properly materialise until the summer – then Bournemouth’s £31m splurge on Dominic Solanke and Brentford’s Chris Mepham are the only two major buys for the second half of 2018/19.

It’s not always this way, though: most of the Premier League’s big guns bought at least one player this time last year (drink in those halcyon days, Spurs fans) in an uncharacteristically busy winter window.

But as you’ll note from today’s quiz, January is rarely a time for big-money buys – in 2015, for example, Leicester’s £9m move for a striker was enough to make the cut here.

That’s just one of 50 moves we’d like you to recall in the 10 minutes provided. Once you’re done, we’d love to hear those scores of yours @FourFourTwo as usual.
