Estonia v Wales live stream, Monday 11 October, 7.45pm BST
Wales will continue their bid to qualify for the 2022 World Cup when they face Estonia in Tallinn on Monday night.
Rob Page’s side drew the reverse fixture 0-0 in September, a result which could yet be costly as they seek a top-two finish in Group E. The scores also finished level in their last outing on Friday, as goals from Aaron Ramsey and Dan James earned Wales a 2-2 draw against the Czech Republic.
It is the Czechs with whom Wales are competing for second place in this group, with Belgium all but guaranteed top spot already. The two sides are level on eight points at present, and with the Czech Republic expected to comfortably beat Belarus on Monday, this is a must-not-lose fixture for Wales.
Page and his players will be reasonably confident of emerging from Lillekula Stadium with all three points. Wales turned in an impressive performance against the Czechs last time out, and would perhaps have won the match had it not been for a dreadful goalkeeping error from Danny Ward. They certainly created enough good chances to have triumphed, but a point keeps Wales’ fate in their own hands given they have played one game fewer than the Czech Republic.
Estonia are unbeaten in their last two qualifiers: they followed up that scoreless stalemate against Wales with a 2-0 victory over Belarus on Friday. Yet they manifestly do not have the same level of talent to call upon as Wales, who should register a comfortable win as long as they avoid complacency.
Estonia tend to use a 3-5-2 formation, but we can expect the wing-backs to sit deep and look to deny Wales space in behind. The visitors to Tallinn will have to remain patient in possession and guard against counter-attacks. Wales are still without Gareth Bale and could name an unchanged line-up.
