ROME - Fiorentina have signed Italy under-21 full back Lorenzo De Silvestri, one of three players who have recently fallen out with Lazio president Claudio Lotito.
"Fiorentina announce they have bought the rights to the sporting services of the footballer Lorenzo De Silvestri," the Serie A club said on their website on Wednesday.
Italian media reported the Florence-based side had paid 5.5 million euros for the defender, who is expected to be out until mid-September with a knee problem.
De Silvestri was omitted from the squad for Lazio's 2-1 win over Inter Milan in the Italian Super Cup in Beijing this month along with two more unsettled players, Cristian Ledesma and Goran Pandev.
De Silvestri and Argentine midfielder Ledesma were then unfit for Lazio's 1-0 Serie A opening-day win over Atalanta on Sunday.
Ledesma is close to making peace with Lotito by signing a contract extension, according to media reports, but Macedonia forward Pandev has threatened to take legal action after being frozen out of the team.comments
