Which leads neatly into this: asking you to name the most prolific English players in the competition's history. Every man from Blighty to score three Champions League goals is here, and while the majority scored for British clubs, Real Madrid do pop up three times (edging out Blackburn, with two entrants).
The top of the list is dominated by strikers and attacking midfielders, as you'd expect. Although one homegrown defender has reached double figures – so clearly he’s a leader, the daddy and a sauce of inspiration to us all.
