Quiz! Can you name the 38 players to finish in the Ballon d’Or top three from 1995 to 2018?

Ballon d'Or

Today, we're testing you on the past 25 winners, plus 50 players who’ve finished second and third. Don’t panic at the intimidating total of 72, however - there’s naturally several repeat entries (especially recently). It’s only actually 38 players you need to get.

Now, eight minutes are on the clock and we’d love to know your score @FourFourTwo. Please put your golden balls on the line by challenging some friends too – surely they can’t top your mighty score. Good luck!

THEN TRY... Quiz! Can you name the 50 most recent Premier League managers?

Lionel Messi landed his record sixth Ballon d'Or on Monday night, proving once and for all that he is quite good at football. Congratulations, Leo.

We hope we're not giving too much away to say he'll get you straight into double figures on this quiz.

The Ballon d’Or has grown to become the most prestigious individual award in football. Not bad for a gong that, before 1995, was just for the best European player and whose title – if we recall our French lessons – is the 'Balloon of Orbs'. Strange name for a football award, really, but still better than FIFA’s unimaginative ‘The Best’. Anyway, since 1995 and the Ballon d’Or going all international, it’s become the de facto seal of approval for the world’s best footballer in the past year – so that's the period we're testing you on.
