The first major trophy of the season is up for grabs at Wembley on Sunday as Tottenham look to clinch their first piece of silverware for 13 years against Premier League leaders Manchester City.  

City remain on course to win a treble this season, as they sit on top of the league and have booked a semi-final spot in the Champions League.

Both clubs have had a chaotic week after announcing their involvement in the breakaway Super League, only to pull out within 48 hours as the project suffered a humiliating collapse.

On top of that, Spurs sacked manager Jose Mourinho on Sunday and interim boss Ryan Mason guided them to a 2-1 league win over Southampton on Wednesday.

The north London club haven’t won a trophy since lifting the 2007/08 League Cup, while City are aiming to win it for a fourth consecutive season and draw level with Liverpool as the most successful club in the competition’s history.

City also warmed up for the clash with a 2-1 midweek league win, against Aston Villa.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that goalkeeper Zach Steffen will start, and striker Sergio Aguero could lead the line as his time at City draws to an end.

Harry Kane is an injury doubt for Spurs, while Matt Doherty and Ben Davies are hoping to return to fitness in time.
