Brighton are on the brink of dropping into the relegation zone ahead of their trip to fellow strugglers Southampton on Sunday.

A 2-1 defeat to Leicester last weekend stretched the Seagulls’ winless run to five matches in the Premier League, including three defeats in their last three games.

To make matters worse, relegation rivals Fulham pulled off a stunning win over Liverpool a day later to draw level on 26 points and leave Graham Potter’s side hanging onto 17th place courtesy of goal difference.

Southampton aren’t safe either yet, as although they are 14th and seven points clear of Fulham and Brighton, their recent league form has been dreadful.

Saints have picked up one win in their last 11 Premier League matches, against bottom side Sheffield United last weekend, losing nine games in that run.

The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 2-1 win for Southampton at the AMEX in December, when goals from Jannik Vestergaard and Danny Ings cancelled out a Pascal Gross opener.

But Ings is out injured for the hosts, as well as Theo Walcott, Oriol Romeu, William Smallbone and Michael Obafemi.

Brighton’s injury list features Solly March, Tariq Lamptey, Adam Webster and Florin And one.
