ATHENS - Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire has agreed to join Greek champions Olympiakos on a six-month loan, the Greek Super League club said on Wednesday.
"Matt is expected in Athens tomorrow for his medical and to sign the contract but the deal has been agreed, he will be joining us for six months," a club spokesman told Reuters.
The 22-year-old, who is an England under-21 international, has made 17 appearances for Blackburn in the Premier League this season, scoring twice.
Derbyshire joins an Olympiakos side that is 11 points clear at the top of the Super League and in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup where they face French side St Etienne.
He has been brought in as cover for striker Darko Kovacevic whose career is in doubt following recent heart surgery.
