Wigan Athletic, who sold Honduras midfielder Wilson Palacios to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week, continued their hectic transfer-window wheeling and dealing on Thursday.
Steve Bruce's team moved closer to signing Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega for 4.5 million pounds ($6.20 million) from Mexican club Necaxa with the player due to undergo a medical, Sky Sports News reported.
Rodallega, 23, was granted a British work permit last week.
In addition Wigan have agreed that striker Marlon King, 28, who has been on loan at Hull City, can join Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.
Egypt striker Mido, whose opportunities at Middlesbrough have been limited this season, was also given permission to speak to Wigan about a loan move.
