Portsmouth approach Spurs for Dos Santos

Portsmouth are believed to be in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a £7 million deal for Mexican forward Giovani dos Santos. The former Barcelona playmaker has struggled to make an impression at White Hart Lane since his move from the Nou Camp last summer, making just six top-flight appearances for the north London club.

Seven-time French champions Lyon may also move in for the forward. However, Dos Santos is believed to prefer to stay in England and establish himself in the Premier League.

Portsmouth and Spurs have already been involved in two high-profile transfers this season, with Pompey manager Harry Redknapp swapping Fratton Park for White Hart Lane in October, with striker Jermain Defoe following suit in January.
