It’s coming home. Wayne Rooney’s coming home.
Reports suggest that Championship side Frank Lampard’s Philip Cocu’s Derby County are close to landing the signature of England’s all-time leading goalscorer – although he might not be back to these shores until January.
Rooney’s stint in the United States with DC United has been something of a surprising success, combining audacious assists from the halfway line with, well, audacious goals from the halfway line. G’wan Wayne.
While his American exploits have been enjoyable, and his Three Lions’ record will stay in the history books, it was Rooney’s time in the Premier League we’ll all remember.
