Newcastle United v Sheffield United live stream, Sky Sports, Wednesday 19 May, 6pm BST

Newcastle will pull further clear of the bottom three if they beat last-placed Sheffield United on Wednesday.

Steve Bruce was recently named manager of the month for April, and the previously under-fire Newcastle boss does deserve credit for pulling his side clear of trouble in recent weeks. Fulham’s poor form over the last couple of months has made the Magpies’ task easier, but Newcastle are now 12 points clear of the bottom three and have an excellent chance to extend that margin in midweek.

Bruce has been criticised for an excessively conservative approach at times this term, but that charge could not be levelled against him last time out. A seven-goal thriller at St James’ Park ultimately ended in Manchester City’s favour, but Newcastle will have taken great pride from their ability to score three times against the Premier League champions.

Sheffield United were victorious at the weekend, running out 1-0 winners against Everton at Goodison Park. That was only their sixth triumph of what has been a miserable season, with the Blades on their way back to the Championship. However, they could still climb up to 19th place if they win their final two games and West Brom fail to take a point from theirs.

Newcastle will have to make do without Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Ryan Fraser, Karl Darlow, Isaac Hayden and Elliott Anderson. Bruce will stick with the 5-3-2 formation that has served his side well of late, as the Magpies seek victory in their final home game of the campaign.

Sheffield United will be unable to call upon the services of Oli McBurnie, Jack O’Connell, Ethan Ampadu, Oli Burke, Sander Berge and Billy Sharp. Interim manager Paul Heckingbottom is likely to stick with Daniel Jebbison up front after the teenager scored the winner against Everton.

Kick-off is at 6pm BST and the game is being shown on Sky Sports Mix. See below for watching details where you are.

Use a VPN to watch a Newcastle United v Sheffield United live stream from outside your country

If you’re on holiday or just simply out of the country, your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows exactly where you are from your IP address. Your access to the game will be automatically blocked, which is annoying if you’ve paid a subscription fee and don't want to use an illegal, buffering stream that makes you miss another Jose Mourinho tantrum. And that's where we recommend ExpressVPN (more on which below).

All you need to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to get beyond such aggravations (assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs). A VPN creates a private connection between your device and the internet, meaning suppliers can’t work out where you are and what you’re doing. The info going to and from is entirely encrypted.

There are plenty of options out there, including:

ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN including a 30-day, money-back guarantee

FourFourTwo’s brainy office mates TechRadar love its super speedy connections, trustworthy security and the fact it works with Android, Apple, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, PS4 and loads more. You also get a money-back guarantee, 24/7 support and it's currently available for a knockdown price. Go get it!

NordVPN NordLocker

NordVPN with quality mobile and desktop apps

A cheaper option and almost ExpressVPN's equal when it comes to quality, too. A single subscription covers six connections, so you can use it on mobile, laptop, streaming devices and more, all at the same time.

Surfshark Surfshark VPN

Surfshark offers a great VPN at a fraction of the price

It's clear to see why Surfshark is top of TechRadar's best cheap VPN table – it combines an excellent product with bargain pricing, starting at £2/$2.50 a month!
